July 2004 Beautiful Booth of the Month Award:Norm & Patricia DonohueOlde Hamlet Candles |
|
| There are challenges to be overcome when two accomplished artisans with very different products share a booth. Each artist's work needs space, but needs to work in harmony with the other for an attractive display. Norm and Patricia Donohue have given their display a lot of thought and attention over the past couple of years, and it shows. In fact, just about every week there's a new development in the display. Patricia's playful, experimental approach to basket making gives many of her pieces distinct personalities, each of which demands its own display space. Each of Norm's soy wax filled beeswax candles is adorned with a delicate, unique pressed flower collage, also demanding individual space. This problem has been addressed by plenty of vertical shelving. The booth space also has the advantage of being a corner, so the basket display can be separate from the candles, and still have plenty of space. The focus on natural materials in both of their products gives continuity from one section to the other. You'll find Norm and Patricia and their earth-friendly products in space 36, next to the Fountain. Do stop by and enjoy it in person! |
