Photography is the latest boom industry at Market, and everywhere. It's the newest accessible artform, especially with the increasing affordability of digital cameras, and the increasing excellence of digital printers. But taking and printing pictures, even really great ones, does not instantly lead to Market success.

Tim Giraudier started selling his photographs at Market in April of 2004. It took a solid couple of years for he and his wife Jeanne to figure out what the customers want, and how to display it, and they are still working on it all the time. Like any artist, Tim's favorite pieces and subjects are not necessarily the ones that other folks love and want to take home. His most popular works are landscapes and "botanical abstracts" but his personal favorite subjects are marine photos and environmental topics. Whatever the subject matter, Tim's pieces always emphasize the rich colors of the world. The black frames and mats definitely help to bring out that aspect.

Of course, it's a photographer's nightmare to take a bunch of photos of things in glass on a bright sunny day, so apologies to Tim and all of you for the excessive glare all over the place! But what this means is that you will have to come down and see the work in real life, it's so much better in the Giraudier's lovely mini-gallery…

Tim doesn't have a permanent booth space, so you'll have to seek him out on your own (always somewhere on the Fountain block) or just ask at the Info booth. Stop by and take in the beauty!
