River sells her own Terra Firma Botanicals line of herbal tinctures, natural salves, massage oils including edible massage oils, infused flower oils, herbal cough syrups and herbal aphrodisiacs. With such a wide variety of products, it is essential to have them neatly organized and clearly labeled, and so they are. Her signs and wall hangings are also color coordinated with her product labels. The layout of her booth invites customers in to consider their purchases carefully out of the flow of Market traffic.

River started Terra Firma Botanicals in 1982. At Terra Firma, they have a deeply personal relationship with the plants and the final preparations. Their herbs have always been certified organically grown or ethically harvested by wildcrafters. It is very important to them to only use plants that are obtained without the use of chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, fumigants and irradiation. They use only cold-pressed organically grown olive oil in their salves and flower oils.
